The devastation of dealing with emotions in divorce is normal.
ANGER
HURT
DISAPPOINTMENT
HEARTBREAK
FAILURE
But for every action, there's a reaction!
And going through a divorce leads to loads of action and re-actions. – Some, you never even knew about. When you are faced with these feelings of hurt, or ashamed or anger, you are going to do “something” with it. The energy that keeps on building, will come back to you in some or other form like ANGER / BLAME / AVOIDANCE.
SOME OF US SHOVEL IT DOWN...
You feel like you can’t deal with all these emotions, so you push it down so far and bury it and you try to carry on, thinking that you have control over it but all it takes is that one event. That one word spoken that triggers all those pent-up emotions and then the rage takes over, anger plays out in such a destructive manner.
SOME OF US ARE HELD CAPTIVE...
You are so outraged by the betrayal that you choose to hold on to the anger and the hate, so you fight, or plan out your revenge but in reality you are holding your own heart captive in an emotional prison. You are doing this to yourself and it’s exhausting. Draining.
